History  Mission Statement

Tiemann Industrial Supply, Inc. is a preferred industrial supplier that has been in business since 1930 when it opened as a retail hardware store in north St. Louis. At that time, the north part of the city was a prime industrial area and soon the company began to attract industrial customers as well as the anticipated retail trade.

By the late 1950's, Tiemann recognized industrial supply as a market that it wanted to emphasize and began to actively solicit industrial customers. By 1970, as a result of this successful approach, over 90% of our sales were to industrial accounts.

Tiemann is curently a general line industrial distributor carrying a complete range of products for the maintenance, repair and operations segment of the market (MRO). Major product categories include cutting tools, abrasives, safety products, industrial coatings and equipment, material handling, hand tool, power tools, machine tools, janitorial supplies and miscellaneous MRO supplies.

Because of our high level of service and our focus on the industrial segment of the market, Tiemann's sales have grown over 50 times since the early 1970's.

Tiemann's procurement and distribution system presently encompasses over 2000 manufacturers and 6000 customers. Our customer relationships range from simple telephone call-in orders to sophisticated on-line e-procurement and fully integrated inventory control systems, which incorporate on-site ordering and stocking for selected accounts.
